Denver, CO (June 20, 2013)—The Salvation Army has responded to a request for aid in the Lime Gulch Fire that erupted yesterday evening. Disaster service personnel from The Salvation Army’s Denver Metro team provided breakfast to 150 first responders and law enforcement personnel this morning and expect numbers to rise to nearly 325 this evening.
The Salvation Army continues to aid evacuees returning to the area impacted by the Black Forest Fire. Emergency Disaster Services teams from Colorado Springs and Casper, WY provided over 8,000 food and hydration items yesterday to evacuees moving through re-entry zones and remain at these locations today.
The Salvation Army remains available to provide additional assistance to residents at the Disaster Assistance Center located at 1675 Garden of the Gods Road in Colorado Springs, CO 80907. Recovery efforts to counter the Black Forest Fire’s extensive devastation will be long-term, and The Salvation Army plans to be present as long as there is need. Still today, The Salvation Army continues to provide recovery aid to those impacted by last summer’s devastating Waldo Canyon and High Park fires.
Monetary donations are desperately needed to help The Salvation Army help those affected during the long recovery ahead. The Salvation Army uses 100% of your disaster donations in support of local disaster relief operations.
